Prayer Labyrinth

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."
Isaiah 30:21

We invite you to walk and explore our Prayer Labyrinth located beside Hooks Chapel. The labyrinth is a spiritual tool that can be used in prayer and meditation.

The path is unicursal, one path, with no splits or dead ends. The labyrinth is not a maze; it is one path from entrance to center. One returns from center to entrance by the same path.

Walking the labyrinth can be a metaphor for your own spiritual journey. Notice how walking the labyrinth is a non-lineal experience. The journey is not to figure out how to get to the center, but how to take the next step with God.

Some Suggestions For Walking The Labyrinth

There is no right way to walk a labyrinth. You Only have to enter and follow the path. Prepare yourself by clearing your mind of expectations, quiet your thinking, focus on your breathing, and open your heart to God.

From the book, Exploring the Labyrinth, Melissa Gayle West offers this about the labyrinths:

"whoever you are, walking the labyrinth has something to offer. If a project is challenging you, walking can get your creative juices flowing. When struggling with grief or anger, or a physical challenge of illness, walking the labyrinth points the way to healing and wholeness. If you're looking for a way to meditate or pray that engages your body as well as your soul, the labyrinth provides such a path. When you want reflective time away from a busy life, the labyrinth can offer you time out. The labyrinth holds up a mirror, reflecting back to us not only the light of our finest selves, but also whatever restrains us from shining forth."
